I’m just picturing a bunch of little Mormon missionaries. Except that the clothes will be covered by gowns, so why the dress code anyway?

Surely you could find another occasion for your child to wear a black pair of pants. If you don't like white shirts, use it as a reason for fabric paint or tie dye.

Because the daycare teachers have done a great deal for your family over the years, with very little in the way of thanks, and it's important to them to have this event.

Because other parents are going to care what the photos look like, even if you don't.

Because you teach your kid to respect school, but respecting their requests.

I think that the graduation ceremonies for preschool are a bit much, especially with caps and gowns, but I would still honor the school's request.

You’ll treasure those photos and memories later on. Find something comfortable in the right color scheme that you can use again. Don’t worry about shoes.

It's going to be so much cuter and more fun than you think. I've finally stopped rolling my eyes at this stuff and embraced it. The kids think it's a big deal, and the preK teachers really want to show them off.

Buuuut, get the cheapo clothes and do it anyway.

Preschool graduations are adorable. Kids grow up a lot in kindergarten and you won't get these amazing photo ops again for a long while. Enjoy it, OP!

I would put my daughter in black leggings and a white t-shirt.

They just want it to look cute. Just go with it.

I would just wear the closest clothes you own. white t and jeans or leggings. Like you said, they will be wearing a cap and gown.

what are you going to tell your kid when he/she asks why he/she isn't dressed like everyone else?

Get a polo or T shirt and just do any black bottom (leggings, skirt, shorts, etc.)

OP, you've already spent close to $100K so far so don't cheap out now.
