Yes, you are right, Poolesville won this year, I messed it up in my head. I watched their video as of course Sherwood kids thought they should have won, but the winner had by far a better and more artistic and modern dance routine. If I didn't see it for myself(on youtube), I never would have known and believed what a difficult athletic and dance skill is being in Poms today.

I was a Pom in high school in the late 90s (even senior captain) and no way would I have made the squad these days. It’s way more technical than it used to be.

I agree with this. I didn’t even know what poms was so googled it and watched the college national championships. They’re 100% athletes/artists in every way.

My daughter does sports like swim and even did wrestling for a while, but people who say that poms or cheerleaders are dumb are the opposite of feminist. Girls should be able to do what they want for fun without being judged as inferior to girls who choose traditionally masculine sports.

That's false. Northwood place 2nd two consecutive years in division 3, unable to beat Whitman. They actually got 2nd at the Damascus Invitational this year, which isn't the last competition, rather a competition for feed back. At the MCPS counties, Northwood placed 8th this year in division 2. Einstein got 1st and Whitman got 2nd. Einstein scored 648 to Whitman's 616. Einstein has the best poms program in the DCC. Einstein got 1st place two years in a row in division 3, got 4th in their 1st year in division 2. Got 2nd in 2016, Einstein are now the MCPS Poms division 2 champions.



If North wood scores low next year, they most likely be back in D3, while Einstein move to D1.

My bad. I didn’t understand that there were divisions and various invitational competitions. I guess I heard about Wheaton placing first at an invitational competition. Thanks for explaining.

The Poms at my DCs school were smart girls and many went on to very competitive colleges.
