I'd like some kind of curriculum for my math class (H.S.) We don't have text books, no online curriculum other than what we've scrounged for ourselves and our last working copier died last week. My class consists of doing work copied off of the black board. Yes, you heard right. Black board. We don't even have white boards, let alone a smart board. The school supplies no paper, and so if kids don't bring it, they don't get to access the "curriculum". And this, believe it or not, is a "desirable" school in my city.

Seeing a lot of glue sticks, what about HS teachers, what is on your wish list?

A heartfelt note from the child and/or parent/guardian.

Tissues, neon cardstock, a working stapler, electric industrial strength pencil sharpener, and a thank you note. This is year 13, and whenever I get a nice thank you note (email or handwritten), it goes in a gratitude box I put in the top of my closet. On really bad days, I use the gratitude box to remind me that good days are ahead.

Also, chocolate.

A nice note, written by the parents and sent to the principal (I get notes from your children all day, every day. No need to have them fill out one from the pta that I have to distribute and then collect)
And, yes...wine!

Luxury consumables. Examples from the past: Local chocolates, homemade jams, fancy cupcakes, snacks from TJ’s to keep in my desk drawer, wine, coffee gift cards, etc.

Oh, and onenyear our PTA scrapped the events and just gave us cash. $100. It was awesome.

Signed, a teacher who could really use some colored pencils. And maybe a coffee.

Right?!

—another teacher who would love a rainbow of sharpies.

I was going to say wine.

- another teacher who is sort of joking....sort of
