Go to the main page on the website, e.g https://govsalaries.com/ then scroll down to the lower left hand bottom where it shows the top 10 salaries found in this database (which btw has over 50 million records). Notice the salaries of the top ten, and see if you can figure out who they are (hint: I had no idea so had to google their names before I saw the pattern).

As a state employee of a different state, I can tell you that my salary for all years on that website is 100% accurate. Perhaps everyone's is not but it's pretty damn good. They even picked up some extra one-time income I got on the side...

They are great with kids, they have so much energy and we like them a lot. Former FCPS teacher here (who left before retirement age for many reasons that had nothing to do with $). If they have been teaching for a long time, they have seen the job they started at change into something different entirely that is way less fun, way more stressful, and not worth the money after a certain point.

If they were eligible for retirement that would give them enough $, they may have left in order to do something more meaningful with their time.

Or maybe (like me) there were family considerations that made leaving full-time work the easiest solution possible to the problems they are facing.


In any case, it is absolutely NONE of your business---maybe they left for a job where everyone won't be second-guessing their personal decisions.

Ugh, that's freaky. I searched myself and it's accurate.

If the teacher has worked 20 years, they aren't a step 20. There were many years without step increases. A 20 year teacher is probably only step 15 at this point.

If they have been in the county for a long time, the returement plan they fall under makes it so you don’t really gain anything by staying in past a certain number of years. I know people who plan on retiring and then going to teach in another state so they can “double dip.” This is not the case for teachers who have been hired in the past few years. They don’t get a traditional pension.
