I mean, have you not ever listened to 1450 WOL AM radio? They say much much worse on there. They have meetings and conferences in NE DC all the time-at a child care center that rents their space out to black nationalist organizations while not in use for daycare. It’s pretty appalling. Signed, not Jewish, atheist, but believe we should all be tolerant of each other.
OP here, and no....haven't listened to that radio station. (I don't. think I'll start, either.) What makes the whole thing worse with the NOI and other black nationalist groups is that they of all people should be aware of the harm that bigotry against minority groups cause. And yet here they are, objecting to the bigotry against blacks while perpetuating it against Jews. Disgusting.
I was searching for childcare years ago, and the CHILD center on Riggs road is near, but after researching them and finding out their connections to NOI, Positive Kimetic Visions, and the Nawaupian movement (which I never had knowledge about before), it was really troubling. I just don’t know how they would treat non-African American children there. Honestly, I wouldn’t have put my child in there care for other reasons, but I was amazed at what I found out about them.

Doubt that very, very much. Why would amazon not come to nova? Why would people not “travel” to DC? DC is a highly educated area that has become fantastically wealthy.
NP. I don't live in DC, have really nothing to do with DC, and personally watching all this (because it is starting to make national media and so I recognized the name), I am wondering whether I want to spend travel dollars in DC. And I am not Jewish.
PP here. Also I don't know the history here at all and I would need to read about all of this before I really made any set decision. All I am saying is my shallow and outsider perspective is that DC now has an openly anti-Semitic council member and that's the sort of thing I would want to think about as a visitor.

Thus, he has condoned the Farrkhan speaker's remarks - both the anti-Jew attack on Silverman and the "Jews are termites" vomit.
Now it almost seems that he's showing the Jews that he can get away with anything and is rubbing their faces in it. That's why this should have been nipped in the bud. You guys who defended his actions last week gave him the proverbial "inch" - and so he took a mile. And so did others, as the tone was set.
I am as appalled by this as you are! I think you are the OP, and I am a PP who has responded a couple of times. I am also surprised this thread hasn't blown up with outrage. I think it might be the timing as it is the weekend and folks are distracted. I'm sure the council members all hope this will go away by Monday. I feel terrible for Silverman and wonder how she will move forward under this blatant hate talk.

This whole mess has made him stronger in the eyes of his constituents. They support him more now than ever, because many of them believe the same things, and now they're seeing "their guy" attacked for it.
If people would've just ignored this, it would've been better. Now he's stronger than he was before.
You may be right that this has made him stronger, at least within his specific constituency, but I am still not sure ignoring it would have been better. If nothing else, hopefully it would hurt him if he ever wanted to run for city-wide office. And ignoring things creates its own legitimacy.
