People might say their partner is "the love of their life". People say all kinds of different things. Op thinks ending his relationship over this is ... normal? I'm a woman. I've been happily married for a long time. I think Op is very odd.

Barbara Bush—a fine and decent woman— would have almost certainly described George HW as the love of her life (and vice versa). Very few couples will achieve that type of love and partnership but it is certainly worth aspiring to. Nothing immature or fake about what Barbara and George HW Bush had together.

Your wife has been with you for 20 years. She knows you, or should, and and should be able to sense that you need this proclamation. It's not immature, its just how you view marriage.

Some view it as a business transaction, especially on DCUM, and anything that gets in the way of continuing that transaction is not valid--love, sexual desires and happiness be damned.

Concentrate less on how your wife feels about you and more about how to be a great partner and have a great relationship. If you both agree that you're doing a great job as a spouse but there are still issues, then reexamine.
