Happens to me as well. Now I take a small vape of pot before going out (not driving) and I have a nice little buzz and no hangover.

52 y.o. female here. I was never a big drinker, but now, I'm not enjoying wine as much, and two things can happen:

1) I can get all hot, I'm assuming because I'm also not used to sugar anymore because I'm a cleaner eater, and

2) It dries up my contacts...I think the fumes hit my contacts when I raise the glass to drink, and dry them out. I don't remember this when I was younger. I think maybe my eyes are a little dryer these days, so they don't have the tolerance for alcohol fumes.

Also, I cannot tolerate hot sauce anymore. As someone who was raised in Buffalo this is shocking and depressing. I more wings for me or I must run straight to the bathroom EVERY time.

I sure love(d) my cocktails - but no more. Can't do wine - gave it up last summer at 50. Beer is okay but never more than 2, and usually I have just one beer or one cocktail. And sadly, just the idea of a Margarita gives me a hangover. Never thought I'd say this but giving it up is worth it to get a good night's sleep and not feel awful the next day. That said, as more of our friends become empty nesters I'm seeing some in our crowd drinking a lot MORE because they can Uber. I guess we will save money too.

I just did a dry month to reset my body's relationship with alcohol. I feel pretty much fine when I drink, but my tolerance is way too high. It's been nice to savor a glass of wine or a couple of margaritas here or there-when I choose- in between dry days and nights. I am looking forward to continuing on this path. Glad to hear how many were heavy drinkiers until their forties and then toned it down. Maybe it's not too late for me

My body is telling me, much more, what I shouldn't/should eat. Or I'm more attuned. Eating much less sugar without trying (so barely drink any alcohol) Much less chocolate. Don't crave it nearly as much. Less meat. I definitely want more dairy, especially yogurt. Now prefer Chobani, Hint of Flavor. Don't even choose yogurt with more fruit/taste.

Definitely. I just tuned 56 and two glasses of wine and I have a small hangover. It started around 50.

Yep, me at 47. I'll still have half a glass of wine or beer most nights, but two is now my max. And that's spread out over a long day, and I don't sleep and feel like crap the next day.

Nevery would have believed it when I was in my 20s.

WOW, I thought it was just me as well! Early 40s couldn't stomach dairy or too many sweets and now at 50 started feeling hungover the next day from a simple glass of wine or bottle of beer, ah well good riddance, suppose I don't need it anyway lol

I'm only 30 but my tolerance is much lower than it used to be. Last summer I threw up (the morning) after having three beers – slightly stronger than normal beers, but that was pretty much within a normal range of drinks for me. I ate food and drink water and that was over three or four hours. Sometimes I get hangovers without being drunk… I don't even really get drunk anymore

I'm 52 and female and so far I haven't experienced anything like what you all are describing.

51 year old female here. Use to be a big drinker from college through my early 40s. I’m right there with you, 2 drinks and that night I’ll sleep like crap, wake up sweating and be hungover and exhausted the next day. I enjoy a good glass of wine or two sometimes but anymore I kind of dread the thought. I did think maybe it is because of menopause?

Any men having the same issue?

Same for me. I told my husband the other day that I need a new drug.
