So what really matters is who your parents are in life, for the most part.

Because the top state isn't Virginia, where people who look like her live. Right, OP?

By posting a question like this, it indicates OP's biases have overcome any remaining chances she can think logically/objectively.

But, then again, trump's in the WH, so...

Geez you can tell what OP looks like? I didn't think DCUM allowed that?

+1 looking at income alone as if it tells you anything is dumb.

Any ranking of states no matter what topic will have Mississippi at the bottom. Guaranteed.

Wasn't is a couple of year ago that MD also had most millionaires? Took over Hawaii? Don't know about 2018.

OP, the fact that you’re so shocked by this says something about you, not something about Maryland.

And to 17:27... Wiki cites a Census survey with the data.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_metropolitan_areas_by_per_capita_income

Maryland is with the #1 per capita metropolitan area income too

The latter link is for the entire Washington DC MSA, which includes DC and VA and does not include or even represent the entire state of Maryland (or Virginia).

If you look at per capita income for a state, Connecticut is #1 (see link from OP).
