The second tab from the left is the "explore page." It is also where the search bar is. Instagram presents a queue of photos and videos from accounts you may or may not follow. They might show up there because they are popular and receiving a lot of traffic, or because your friends are liking the posts. The aim is to allow to you to discover new content and accounts. I don't think a lot of people use this function.
Click on the magnifying glass and then scroll down. Tons of pics and videos “inspired” by what you and your friends are liking. My kids use it all the time.

Sure it does.
That kind of thing normalizes over sexualization of elementary and teen girls.
It also teaches young men that girls and women exist to be objectified.
It affects all of our kids.
