I’d make him walk but there is a turn w fast cars and no place to walk

16 y/o DD takes Uber 2-3 times a week and we have never had issues, you can see who the driver is before they come. Rule of thumb dont accept if less than 4.5 star rating.

An Uber driver charged with raping a passenger earlier this month was able to walk free because officials failed to notify immigration agents about his arrest, authorities said.

Frederick Amfo, 30, an illegal immigrant from Ghana, was arrested after a female passenger said that on April 8 he forced her into the backseat of his car and raped her, police said. Hours after he was released from police custody, he fled to his native Ghana. He was supposed to surrender his passport but did not.

Murray claims on April 8 she was trying to get home when Amfo allegedly locked the doors to his vehicle and sexually assaulted her in the backseat.

“Within minutes, I was in a situation I couldn’t control and I was assaulted,” she said.

Police said DNA collected from a rape kit and Amfo’s car led to his arrest days later.

Amfo was charged with sexual assault. On Friday, a Quincy District Court set bail at $10,000 and he was given a stay away order.

Court records show that Amfo was also given 24 hours to surrender his passport if he made bail. But he made bail later that afternoon without surrendering his passport.

Three days later, Murray was told that Amfo had fled to Ghana.

I mean, I'm 5'4 and 100 lbs. I Uber. Your kid is probably safer than I am.

I am guessing this is more a reflection on Uber's lax standards and processes for background checks, driver experience and corporate culture rather than the 16 year olds maturity.

Isn't there a safer but longer way for him to walk home?

A ride home from school turned horrific for a 16-year-old boy when his Lyft driver made his way into his Davie home and sexually assaulted him, police say.

After dropping off the teen, the driver drove off in a red Nissan Sentra on Tuesday afternoon but returned about 10 minutes later. He knocked on the teen’s door, spoke with him at the entrance, complimenting his appearance. The boy, fearing the driver would try to force his way into the house, allowed the man inside, police said.

The driver made him perform a sex act on him, police said. The teen thought if he did not comply, something would happen to him, police said.

My 12 year old has taken uber alone.

My 16 year old takes uber sometimes (including this weekend when his ride to class fell through) but he is also almost ready to get his license and he will get it on time so he can start driving himself, which I would prefer.

I'm a producer at WUSA9 looking for parents in the area who use a ride share like Uber or Lyft to transport their teens.

Ubers contract says 18 and over. That being said, many much younger kids take it.

He’s fine to Uber. I’ve sent Uber’s to mine as young as 14 when they needed to get to sports practice and didn’t have a ride. I’ve found it best to keep the app on my phone and order for them so that I can monitor their whole trip. I even message the driver and say this is for my kid. Then I screenshot the car and driver info and send it to my kid. Zero problems here and we’ve probably used Uber around 50 times the past 3-4 years for kid related things.
