Since you have to give the student’s ID if already in a school, does the current school get to see what schools you’re applying to before you inform them of your choice? Does the current school treat you differently or limit any services when they get the notice that you are leaving the school? Or is it more of a sigh of relief that you’re leaving? Should you wait to closer to the acceptance due date to let the current school know you’re leaving? By the way, do schools ask you why you’re leaving and maybe make you feel uncomfortable or like a traitor? Is there data compiled on what schools lose students and where those students go? Curious.

Enrollment deadline for all schools is May 1. After that you lose your spot. Including at your current school, unless it’s your neighborhood school.

I think it could help, OP, in a perfect storm scenario. There would have to be two older siblings, with younger siblings in the same grade, and the offer would have to go out in the window of time before one of the kids qualifies for sibling enrolled preference. But the likelihood of that actually happening is low, and the likelihood of the slower family getting an offer eventually is high. So I wouldn't sweat it too hard.

I don't think time you enrolled the sibling would matter -- whenever the status changes from "sibling accepted" to "sibling enrolled," your other sibling would move up on the wait list to wherever their overall number puts them in that category. As long as you did all this by the enrollment deadline, no one else could pip you to a spot you'd otherwise be able to get, because no one else would be able to enroll formally, either, right?

I'm not sure that's right. If someone else enrolls a sibling first and moves up the waitlist, they might then get that spot before you, if you wait to enroll and get the other kid sibling status. The odds would be pretty slim, but not nonexistent.
