+1. I think it's

1) the U of Maryland students and graduates
2) the parents of UVA students who didn't get in
3) the UVA applicant students who didn't get in
4) The Virginia Tech students (there's a long-standing rivalry between UVA and VT)
5) The NoVA parents who are frustrated that they pay so much in taxes but can't get their kids into the top Virginia universities (who didn't even bother to apply because their child doesn't have the 4.40 GPA, and 33 ACT)
6) all compounded by the recent statistics of how difficult it was to get into VT this year.

For a more accurate feel, watch the threads on College Confidential. Some say results will be posted at 6:00 p.m. today. https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-virginia/2062370-uva-class-of-2022-rd-decisions-p4.html. Good luck to those who applied!

40% admissions rate. The links that get shared here all the time show that Fairfax and London have higher admissions rates than the state average.

No. Admissions rate for EA class of 2022 was only 27.8%. https://news.virginia.edu/content/uva-releases-early-action-decisions-spawning-social-media-tsunami

If your kid isn't filthy rich and/or 10/10 attractive they're not getting bids to top tier Greek houses, so they'll just be non-entities at a public U.

The amount of admissions offers has barely budged in response to the state’s population growth.

The rich ones are still coming. Their lawyers take care of the paperwork and the Virginia Dems run the state at this point so they look the other way.

You think the state government issues visas foreign citizens? Nope.

That is not what I was saying. The state gov’t is doing nothing about the admittance ratios.

They won't pay to supplement more Virginia students. Why weren't you able to express this clearly and instead made a xenophobic remark?

They're 67% in state. The reason the HPY obsessed crowd looks down on UVA is that their admissions rate for in state is so high.

It is not the University OF Virginia. More like the University of New York and China.

UVa has become out of reach for many hard-working instate students and that makes me sad. Instead, they take money from internationals and out-of-staters. They have done little change that. I’m an alum.
