I was going to say not unless you live in that area where Tysons, Vienna, Falls Church all kind of meet. My friend who lives in that area is about 3.5 miles from Tysons and can take the main roads there but not highways. Those are definitely plowed out now if my little subdivision is further west.

I was out earlier and the roads are getting worse, not better, and since no one is out, they aren't melting.

I wouldn't drive at all now.

Thanks for all the responses. I had no intentions of letting him drive in the snow, but he insisted that I'm the only one who would say no to this. (We do live within a quarter mile of 495, for the PP who mentioned that). Thought I'd show him that I am not the only parent with some common sense.

I did offer to drive him later and pick him up if he wants to go. FWIW, some of the stores at the mall are closed due to the snow--seemed sensible to me.

I would go out WITH your child and teach him to drive on the snow.

THen drop him off at the movies.

No, but we are going to go out and make a few laps in the neighborhood so both can practice later.

My kids are both out now at the movies. DD's friend's dad picked them and some others up. Sounds like no ones parents were letting them drive solo today.
