If one of the B team players had to sit the whole tournament or lost significant playing time due to the guest player, that's uncool though.

Did you even read the thread?
One of the best players from the A team...this obviously wasn't about assessments, it was about winning.
And obviously, if there's an A team player playing all game, it means at least one B teamer lost out.

What?!?!? Playing a tournament to win?!?!?!?! That is crazy!

Well maybe someone with some knowledge about the rating system can chime in. I think it help the clubs over all rating. The more winning teams up and down the age group the higher the rating for the club?

There is no "club rating". There are however "GotSoccer points" but those are tied to the actual team and not the club based on tournament performance. These points are intended to be used for Tournament seeding purposes in order to have competitive and balanced brackets. The higher the poitns, the higher the rank the better the bracket for a tournament.

Ultimately there is no real advantage to chasing the points for "B" teams as at a certain point they will still never be placed in the same bracket as their A team counterpart.

That is terrible. Wonder why the parents put up with that or sign up for that

I've never seen a rule that explicitly prohibits a "higher" team player from guest playing for a "lower" team. There are almost always rules that limit the number of guest players to 3-5 which I suppose helps prevent the scenario where all or most of a team is displaced by ringers.

Sometimes a sub/bench player from a top team will guest play with the second team to give them more minutes and a leadership role.
I've never heard of a club guest-playing their best player to help a second team win
. That seems like poor sportsmanship IMO, but probably not "illegal." I think the second team player who gets displaced by this guest player is the one who should be most pissed off.

I guess you've never played FCV. There top players always play on the 2nd team to help them win. I heard they were disqualified from a tournament last year for it.

A team players can play on the B team in tournaments. Only one thing would prevent this:
1. Actually being dual rostered within the tournament when both teams are in the same tournament.

Sometimes an A-team player will guest with the B-team if the B-team is lacking at a certain position and the coach is looking for that A-team player to solidify things. Example, bringing a center mid or a center back to help keep things under control. If they're guesting an A-team goal-scorer, then they likely are trying to ensure some goals and wins for the tournament (if the goal-scorer doesn't choke).

OP back.
The team was one player down from a full roster.

If they were short players and invited him/her--okay. But, the it is usually rewarding a player from the lower team to play up that weekend. It's fairly shitty to have the star player, play down and it really sends a bad message for the kids on the lower team.

So you think the kids on the lower team were upset because they won the championship?
