Haha, I am South Asian, and one time I got pulled over and the cop was giving me the third degree for some reason - I drive a nice car, and I had some cleaning supplies in the back. He asked me where I was going...I said to work, he asked if I was a maid.

I would contact the police department where you suspect he works, send them a copy of the warning, and explain kindly that their officer needs training. HOV laws are laws, not "spirits".

OP this happened to me before too. I think the officer just felt dumb.

In this case, the officer was quite correct to pull her over for "suspicious activity" - it turned out that his suspicions were unfounded, but he had to pull her over to discover that.
