Big scarf or wrap you can use as a blanket/to keep yourself warm when the plane gets chilly? Something simple to eat and drink would be my only other suggestion not on your list - I hate to have an upset stomach while I'm traveling.

I wouldn't take a sleeping pill if you're a woman and not traveling with someone you trust as a seatmate. Unfortunately, assault/being touched is not unheard of on planes. If you google it, you'll be shocked by how common it is.

Underwear and comfortable stretch pants. Chapstick and moisturizer.

Yes! See if you can get a prescription for a few Ambien. I've flown coach to Australia on United (but via LAX and not Dubai) and was able to pass out in those uncomfortable seats with one Ambien. I was really anxious about the flight as well - I had never flown that long, and in coach to boot - but all was well.

Noise canceling over the ear headphones and a travel wrap.

Deodorant and toothbrush/toothpaste. Food. Buy water at airport. Books or tablet. Earplugs, inflatable neck pillow. I carry on all bags. Hate checking even for big trips

I wouldn't wear jeans on that long haul. You need something softer and more flexible that is looser around the waist while you're sitting for so long.

Baby wipes to clean up with in addition to the makeup wipes. Wipe under your armpits, etc. Bring extra deodorant.

Earplugs and a neck pillow.

Anonymous wrote:Hi! I will be taking two 13+ hour flights on Friday. I am looking for any recommendations of essential things to bring on the plane with me to make it bearable. I am traveling with a colleague so would prefer to remain rather intact and feel less like a greaseball when I reach my final destination.

So far, I am thinking the following warrant a spot in my carry on
- Dry Shampoo
- Make-up wipes
- Second set of clothes (t-shirt/jeans)
- e-books and work laptop

Any other recommendations?

UNDERWEAR!!!!

Food

Deo

OP is flying Emirates via Dubai to Australia. Food is fine enough. She will get plenty of it. I actually wouldn't bring extra food because you don't want to eat too much on the plane.

OP, what I really find most useful for long haul flights (I fly 13+ hours flights multiple times a year although not two in such short sequence like your upcoming trip) is a very good quality sleeping mask / blindfold. The airline usually provides one but they're flimsy. A thicker and bigger pair like the ones they give out to Business Class makes a big difference in helping you sleep.
