My mom goes by Kit, so I love that as a nickname for Katherine. But I do like Kick and Kay as well. It's nice to hear some less common nickname choices for a really beautiful formal name.

FWIW, I work with an Elizabeth who has always gone by the nickname Bizzy. She uses Elizabeth professionally and it's no big deal.

I would assume you were copying the Kennedys

The Kathleen in our family goes by Kass. Do you like that?

I can’t imagine swooning over Kay.

I like Kat. No to kick.

Maybe just name her Katherine and call her that.

My dd is a Katherine. Before she was born, I thought she'd be a Katie, but that never felt right and she is still going by "Katherine". Maybe another nickname will develop later, but for now the full name suits her. Go with the name, and just see what develops.

Never heard of Kick but think it’s great. I also love Kay.

Kat, Kay, or Kit. Or even Carebear, basically anything but, Kick.

OP, all of those relatives were named Katherine, and they each had their own nickname, right? That's the tradition I'd follow. Name the baby Katherine, and then let the nickname develop on its own.

Kick, kit or kitty. I really like those. Katie just sounds dated.

I love Katherine. It was my mom's name and I would have loved to use it.

I love Kick! A little weird but I agree with your husband on the spunk factor.

If you like Kick, what about Kit?

Kit
Kitty
Kay
Kiki

I like Kiki but not Kick. It smacks of trying to hard to make a thing a thing. You will be forever explaining about Granny Kick, and most people won't believe you anyway.
