The main reason - weekly housecleaner. It's the household chores that are the worst for us, so outsourcing reduces a lot of conflict.

Interesting and you have a point. I know a couple also youngest in their families and they always quarrel about chores.

two firstborns work out better than two only children. I think its because the firstborns at least had to negotiate and deal with siblings, but only children were little kings and queens of their house.

I'm a firstborn married to an only child. Yes it is hard sometimes because we both think we're right and we both want things done our own way. But we love each other and we get through it by compromising and taking turns and giving in.

Any combination of birth order can have problems. I'm the first born and DH is the baby in his family, so he's used to being pampered and taken care of. He can't do many basic functions, like cook a dinner.

My mom and stepdad are both first borns and they each have 3 younger siblings. My mom is his third wife (LOL). And he is her second husband. They have worked out fine though but they both have strong personalities. I think they are both narcissists personally.

Superstitions: both the birth order and the minister.

Interesting theory. My mom was born last and my dad is first born. Together since they were teens. Yes, the born last is more passive until they get older but the born first is more bossy. I dated other first borns like myself and it made a very passionate relationship meaning we both argued sometimes for the sake of arguing either about positive or negative things didn't matter.

My DH and I joke that we are what happens when two selfish people get married.

Op here. My dh was super laid back too, not sure when this shifted, gradually over the past few years I guess...so watch out ?

Male menopause?

Seriously though your dh may be depressed.

My parents were both firstborn and happily married for over 40 years. Probably even more unusual, DH and I are both onlies - so far, so good!
