AccessUVA is the University's program to assist low-income and first-generation college students. Both hit record numbers in the EA class of 2022. Can you expand on this?

To me, their passion (or attitude, if you take a negative view) is similar to other alumni of schools with very strong school spirit and pride. If you didn't go to a school with intense school spirit, I could see how it might be really challenging to encounter that level of pride and assume it's arrogance.

c) If the article appeared in the Harvard Crimson, it would refer to the University, not THE HARVARD UNIVERSITY throughout the article

e) I know it's called "first year", etc. - what's weird about that? That was Jefferson's intent to make that point that all of life is an educational experience, hence first, second, third year and on
f) UVA has many programs - which the author doesn't mention - to help poor students attend
g) DD was on the Daily Cavalier - you have to produce articles - on anything. This is one of them.
h) We're now two years in as a family and I have never met a preppy douchebag. Preppie douchebags go to N.E. schools.
i) UVA expanded it's program for low and middle class income families starting in 2017. It's called Cornerstone Grant. The largest number of low-income students ever to be admitted was for 2017 (regular decisions aren't out yet for 2018). UVA also set a record for 2018 EA low income families.

Is OSU obnoxious because they say THE before their name? Of course not. It's just school-specific slang.

And they dropped the semi-formal attire at football games two football coaches ago. The frat boys still do it, but most kids are in t-shirts.

This. I couldn't even get my kid to apply after the visit. He basically said one of the main things he was looking forward to in college was getting away from the typical preppy a$$hats at his HS.

OK, we get it. You didn't get in EA. No reason to throw insults. My kid goes there and he's not a preppy douchelord, nor are any of his friends. You can totally avoid the greek scene simply by choosing never to walk over there.
