You have been threw th 3 or 4 windshields? What is happening to all of these windshields? In 35 years of driving I have never had to replace a windshield absent a major collision where the windshield was a minor part of the damage. I don’t know anyone who has a go to windshield guy.

For the minimal amount of material money of money why in the world would you ever run this through your insurance.

Ask for Pilkington or PPG glass. If you don't you might end up with Chinese type.

Safelite ordered what was needed, came out, installed it.
Your insurance deductible for glass coverage may or may not be more or less than the replacement cost.
I ended up paying out of pocket for it.
If you go through insurance (or if the quote was reasonable) you are not getting the same product. They are relatively close but insurance almost never pays for manufacturer windshields.

I have a good relationship with my dealership rep, and he told me the name of the glass guy they use. No dealership has their own glass guy. They outsource and then mark it up.
I'm assuming if you paid nothing out of pocket then you did not use Original Equipment glass, which would probably not be covered since it's more expensive.

I posted above. I had the choice to use OEM or after market. I paid the difference between the glass company and insurance price.
Thank you. This is exactly what I was wondering. If people actually paid up or just did the cheap stuff.

I used Safelite and requested a genuine Land Rover windshield. I didn’t use insurance, so paid the entire cost - I think it was $300-400 more for the genuine part, which was still cheaper than the dealer price and they bring in Safelite to do the work, anyway.
