On a side note, anyone interested in the rodeo clown scene. These guys are HILARIOUS, brave (constantly putting themselves in danger for the safety of others), swift on their feet. They're generally tons of fun and, more and more, are making decent money, too. Forget the DC wonk/nerd/icky lawyer scene and check out this world.

I think your problem is your attitude. Nobody wants a person who is bitter.

Women who are online dating and encountering lots of creeps: how are you using the site? IME, the more proactive you are - you have to contact men first - the more good experiences you have. If you join and then wait for men to reach out to you, you will get all the creeps. Online, you need to make the first move.

My online dating experience changed drastically for the better/more fun when I did that, and it’s how I met my husband.

I met my husband at Krav Maga. Martial arts studios are great places to meet nice, fit guys!

If you're not interested in sex within a relatively few dates - exclusive, sure - you don't have a point. Men want sex. We did at 18, we do at 58. If you want to date, do the dating stuff.

I met my husband online. I agree you want to be careful. Talk a little bit by phone before hand. Meet in a public place (I liked Starbucks). Don't share too much personal information on first date. (My DH still makes fun of me for refusing to tell him my address on our first date. He "claims" he wanted to see me home; I contend that I had no way to know if he was certifiable or not.) If it's meant to be, it will happen. If it's not, you won't lose much...

I agree you should also look in person and that biking groups tend to be very heavily men and are a good choice. Hiking groups in my experience was not a lot of folk in their 20s, but maybe there are meetups that focus on younger singles who hike? I also would not discount church/synagogue/religious institution.
