Ugh. The second I announce dinner is ready and the rest of us sit down, DH disappears to shit for 15 minutes. Annoying AF. We've had discussions about it, but he says he just doesn't know. I tell him to go at work so he's paid to shit.

Our son does this. Dinnertime has been "his time" since he was little. I try to laugh about it...but it drives my husband nuts.

My kid's school took away the doors off the main bathroom entrance to deter smoking and vaping, but the stalls still have doors.

OMG! I'd never survive in a school without stall doors. Even in the women's room? You just change your tampon or pad right there in front of everyone? Some things should only be done behind closed doors.

I sent my son and husband the article about the guy in China who was on his phone in the bathroom for 30 mins. and his rectum became detached and fell out. It worked wonders!

Not everyone has the same bowel needs, so take your vitriol elsewhere. And many schools do have doors.

Taking 10 minutes means he is constipated. It shouldn't be that difficult to pass a BM.

1 - up his water intake. He might have to pee more often, but that should be quick (particularly as a guy).

2 - up his fiber intake, even if it means Metamucil.

3 - if 1 & 2 don't make things faster and more comfortable, it is time for a visit to the doctor. And possibly a therapist in case there is a mental health issue behind the problem.

This is painful for me to read. In high school I was often getting into trouble for taking too long in the bathroom. I could not help it - I had to go after lunch and it did take a little for completion despite the urgency to start. I was diagnosed with IBS in college, btw.

OP - he needs to change his schedule.

I recommend a few sips of coffee first thing in the morning.

That gets me going, first thing.

And fiber.

I know you are getting a lot of crap for this post, but bowel issues are embarrassing and the range of normal varies. His habits are normal, but changeable.

Op I have no clue when my kid takes a dump. If he needs longer he takes it.

Try feeding yours more fiber later in the day. It may help.

When my son potty trained he somehow switched his poop schedule from 10am to “after snack / while I am making dinner”. He told me “no one else poops at school”.

16 year old, right after school. I know because she runs inside as soon as she drops her bag down.
It’s a normal bodily function, what’s so disgusting about it?
