I believe it's mostly in her head. She believes people are laughing at him at dinner parties when they really are just geuninely interested in his stories. Because she doesn't respect him she can't imagine anyone else would either.

Curious as to what the OP hopes to gain from all of these threads? A therapist could help her with all the ruminating and obsessing she's doing. Hopefully she'll consider it.

Comprehension problems? I said I would rather. It doesn’t state anywhere that I believe bad habits are tied to job. But, by her account, OP has a great husband, just without the job she would prefer him to have. I’m saying there flip side isn’t always the dream either.

Why didn't you choose a man whose career and overall demeanor was more impressive to you? Did you not like any of them? Were they not in to you? If you couldn't pull anyone else that may help you see your husband in a different light, he may have been the "best" you could do so you can appreciate him a little more.
