I literally just heard about the walkout and ive only seen 3 people leave and those people are the usual suspects that skip school. People do it all the time here and ironically this is the only time our school has placed security guards outside of the exits to prevent people from cutting. They dont do much either, I literally just revved my bike and ran through a gap in the blockade and they didnt do anything

I going to propose that my kids walk out of class in protest of idiocy on DCUM. Let's see how FCPS deals with the issue of viewpoint discrimination.

McElveen had a post that indicated that it's okay for kids to walk out as long as it does not interfere with learning? What does that mean?

It's funny that they think that congress will actually notice if they walk out of math class. I understand that something has to change. But 90% of the kids my kid knows just think it will be fun to walk out of class.

The Womens March organizers needs to step aside and let these kids take the lead. High schoolers are planning a walk out, it's by high schoolers and for high schoolers.

Eh, I sort of agree with you but I also think it's wrong to put all this on kids to organize. They're kids, and they have school work and limited resources (limited money and independent travel). Organizing is a huge endeavor, let an established group help if they can. It's not as if we can have only one demonstration -- we should have lots.

The Womens March organizers are not helping, they're organizing their own thing.

If they or any other established group wants to help they should be helping with the what the kids are organizing. Giving advice and supporting their mission and their planned walkout and march. Not trying to compete with them by organizing separately to further their own agenda.

No one's putting this "all this on the kids", have you heard their stories? They want this and they need this- It's part of their healing process and their own self-empowerment. We should be helping and supporting THEM.

He did not ban them, and also bump stocks are a drop in the bucket.

(He reportedly ordered DOJ to draft a proposed regulation about bump stocks for public comment, a process which takes a very long time and is vulnerable to manipulation of the public comment process as we saw with the Net Neutrality comment spoofing --plus it's unclear DOJ actually has the authority to ban bump stocks without more legislation.)
