Not seriously famous but my sister was best friends in high school and still is close with the mean red feather girl from troop Beverly Hills, not Tori spelling but the little blonde one.
My family is also close with Doug Jones. Most would never recognize him but he’s the creature in all of the Guillermo del toro films, creepy hand with eyes monster in Pans Labrynth, Abe in Hellboy, Billy Buthcherson in Hocus Pocus and the amphibian man in The Shape of Water, oh he’s the silver surfer too. He’s an incredibly nice dude and lives a pretty anonymous life while constantly working in Hollywood. Only the mega geeks and comic con people really know him.

I'm 44 and in the mid-80's everyone knew who he was. He would do cameos in things and it's not like they had to say "It's Dee Snyder from Twisted Sister!" He was instantly recognizable to anyone with a TV.

Alright you're atypical, that is a very famous song, used in a lot of commercials/sporting events etc
I didn't say I hadn't heard of the song. I said I hadn't heard of the singer or band. Do you know the artist of every famous song ever sung?
I don't think it's a big deal. you were probably 5 at the height of his fame.
