Not sure, just maybe a vibe many of us at the church have. Could be a mid life thing but with all the staff leaving, all these changes in the church, perhaps it makes for an easy way to make changes if he desires.

Well, the Bible actually says God is our Father.
I can't speak to Greek, but Hebrew does not have a gender neutral word for "parent" . Its either av, or im. When discussing parents or ancestors generally, we use the masculine ("avot") may be used. Similarly for gendering of plural pronouns, children ("Bnei Israel" which is translated children of Israel, really means "sons of Israel" but the female "bnot" is used when females only are referred to, when its a mixed group of children or descendants, its "bnei")
But I suppose to Episcopalians the bible is really an English document

Episcopalians haven't taken the Bible literally for centuries -- because they study the human origins of the Bible
This is the essence of unbelief. If you don't accept Scripture as divinely inspired, you do not believe, and you are not a Christian. I'm not sure why some people insist that they are followers of a faith they don't have.
I'm not sure why some people insist that that's one way of being Christian when there are so many denominations and sects.

They can announce that they are no longer Christian and create some sort of fellowship with UUs.
If the Bible is simply a suggestion and the teachings and words of Christ are irrelevant in their leadership's mind then it is really a joke for them to call themselves Christian.
There are many progressive Christians who call themselves "followers of Jesus" rather than believers in Christ.
If they are followers of Jesus, well Jesus makes it crystal clear that God is our Father, not our mom and not some adrogenous being.
If Episcopalians want to recreate God into a god that fits whatever narrative they have, that is their perogative. But then call yourself something else besides Christian. They are being blasphemous and completely dishonest.
Recreating God into a preferred narrative is exactly what so many different Christian churches do -- or else there wouldn't be so many different kinds of churches.

He who believes in me . . .
Not he who believes in me and interprets the Bible in one specific way.
Of course if one is literal then that verse means women don’t go to Heaven.

Then why don't they just stop.calling themselves Christians if they do not believe the Bible is the Word of God?
Episcopian leadership just needs to be honest with their membership and openly admit they are rejecting Christianity in favor of creating their own new religion.
