and do you see the problem this will cause for the AP schools who cannot transfer OUT any kids to Marshall? it will cause them to become (even more) overcrowded. They are all at overcapacity. Either all transfers stop or none. Just my two cents.

Yes, I see the issue at some AP schools.

But Langley has under 2000 kids this year, will have a capacity of 2100 when its renovation is completed, and is projected to have 1959 kids next year. I don't see how it hurts anyone if someone zoned for Marshall pyramid wants to go to Langley and there's space, taking into account that the 10 or so freshmen from Langley who otherwise might have pupil placed to Marshall and South Lakes for IB won't have that option.

I heard the Marshall decision came from the county and wasn't a school made decision. If Langley has room then taking Marshall students seems fine to me. However, I don't think under enrollment anywhere in the Tysons area will last for long.

Correct, but the idea of "move into the pyramid you want" still applies. If that's not possible for OP, the family will need to reset the younger sibling's expectations about HS.

Not at Marshall. There's an announcement on the website. The school is over capacity and getting trailers again. It is closed.

Good. I hope Madison closes for good next. Madison cannot only accept transfers and not have any kids transfer out. I get the one for one swap a poster mentioned above but how do you set the criteria for the chosen few? would sibling transfers happen first? then what? what a mess.

Except for a handful of exceptions, McLean has been closed to transfers for several years. Madison was following the policy you described; they would only accept a pupil placement if they had a student wanting to transfer to another school to offset it.

It seems like all the schools near Tysons may be closed to transfers now. What about Langley? It shows up as closed on the dashboard, but those numbers may not reflect the school's post-renovation capacity in 2018-19.
