Honestly why do you want him to be in AAP? They won't do this till 4th grade even in AAP.

I wish he has got it as no one can guess with his scores he got rejected

We have reached out to the psychologist who tested Wisc to see what Fcps might be looking

The only thing I can think of, is that they deemed his verbal skills sub-par, and there were not enough or not strong enough work samples to demonstrate otherwise.

I also don't understand why the application was submitted in October, for a second grader. Presumably, the child would not be able to go to FCPS in the 2017-2018 school year, which seems to be the purpose for that particular admission set.

I would suggest trying again. This is very seriously skewed.

We submitted in October Results were mailed by December 23rd and appeal deadline was January 16th

I am not a troll but seriously lost on the selection process.

I tried calling aap number in FCPS and they said scores are not the only one they look at , don’t know what else is needed

Cogat : verbal -119, quantitative-140, nonverbal-136
Wisc V : verbal -130, fluid reasoning-137 working memory-142




There are very strong scores! Only thing is verbal 119 in Cogat. Could this be an issue according to some posts here claiming 120 could be a threshold...

Yes his current school had an info session as they have only till fourth grade

For private schoolers the school does not build the file we have to. The only thing they provide is GBRS

Yes his classmates got in with lesser scores in both cogat and Wisc

I was surprised by this, too, unless it is a school that only goes Preschool to early elementary???

For the person who said your child surel didn’t get in of OP’s didn’t, don’t assume that. Many, many kids with lower scores will get in. This is some off fluke. OP, do you know if your child’s classmates got in?

I am the PP. We are at a FCPS ES, not a private school, so I am not familiar with the timeline. Looking at the website, it seems to me that October isn't the right time, but I could be mistaken. Did you apply for AAP from private school in October?
