I get up around 5:45-6 to shower/get ready before my kids (2yo and 4yo) get up at 6:30. We need to leave the house at 7:40.

I get about 7:45 am. I SAH but have to get the older kid to school. My husband works full time but doesn’t need to be in by a specific time (& often has to stay late no matter when he arrives). He often gets up at or after 8 am.

My younger child gets up about 745 and for my sanity I get up and shower before I get him, so I get up about 7.

Op, how did you manage to teach your son to get up, go to bathroom, eat breakfast, brush teeth, get dressed, make beds, and leave the house in 30 minutes? How old is your son? It takes us now about 1.5 hours in the morning.

He’s 12 and an only child, so it’s pretty easy for me. He gets up between 8 and 8:30. If he sleeps until 8:30 his morning is rushed, so it’s not good. He usually takes 40-45 minutes to get ready. Clothes are out at night before, lunch and water bottle is ready night before, and he has a quick breakfast. Honestly he’s always been a very compliant and easy child. I’m lucky, but I’m terrified that next year he will start middle school and we will have to adjust to a new routine.

Here’s what his morning looks like:
Wake up, straight to the bathroom to pee, change, wash face
Come to table for breakfast
Put away breakfast dishes, grab lunch & water & put in backpack
Brush teeth & comb hair
Put on shoes, coat and grab backpack and wait by the door

We live in a 900 square ft condo, so that also saves time

I have severe sleep issues (yes, I see a doctor) and my husband often remarks that I may sleep later but I do not get any more sleep than he does (falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow). As lokng as you are taking care of your crap, why does he care?

If you had a job, would he be so bossy? Maybe you should get one.

I wake up at 7. I work from home so work can being anytime between 7:30-8am. I go to the gym from 12-2pm MWF. On those days I work until 6pm, otherwise I work until 5pm. It works well for me, but I don't know how I could do a 7am wake up if I had to drive to an office everyday.

These days, I wake up at 6:00.. Coffee with DH at 6:30. Breakfast for my youngest (senior..I know, I spoil him, but he is the last of four) at 7:00, then my day begins. When the kids were little, and not yet in school, I milked every last minute of sleep. Refilling the coffers from newborn nights were I was up solo and breastfeeding. I believe some people, like me, value sleep like others value food, exercise, sex, or fancy shoes. Happy wife, happy life.

I'm a SAHM and get up at 8:30! DH is a morning person and gets up around 6 many days to get ready before the kids are up, but some days he'll sleep until they wake up around 7:30. I am not a morning person, and I have done every overnight waking for all kids from birth (and currently have a 1 week old) so I need my sleep! We are both happy with this arrangement.

What exactly does he think you should be doing before 7am?? I can see if it were impacting him somehow, like if you carpooled to work and you were making him late. But if you're up when the kids are up, that is all you need to do!

I get up at 7. One kid in middle school leaves at 7:40, the other in elementary leaves at 8:35, then I leave for work. 10-15 minute commute for me.

This. 5:30 on workdays, about 6-7 on weekends. Enjoy your sleep OP, if you don’t need to, there is no point to get up early just for sake of getting up early. That time may come when kid grows up and needs to be in school earlier.
