I am in similar situation 5'4", need to get to 140 from 160. Started in Jan. Track with MFP most days 1200, some days 1600. Eat one meal a day with soups or tea as needed.
Scale has not budged so very discouraging.

But I noticed clothes fit slightly better and my endurance to hunger has developed so I don't feel the need to stuff myself mindlessly. This I hope will lead to a long term healthy eating pattern even if loss is slow.

I don't understand this. Is it calories in/calories out or not. We can't have it both ways.

When you are not taking in enough calories to fuel your activity, your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto the weight.

Intermittent fasting is really stupid. Proof positive here.

Sigh. Stop putting out false info if you don't even do your own research before spouting off about how stupid IF is. Your body goes into starvation mode when it is starving, which takes oh...WEEKS before that would occur. Do you really think eating at least once a day - or hell even every other day - will somehow kick off starvation mode? LMAO

Intermittent fasting can work to accomplish weight loss goals if researched and done properly and like EVERY OTHER "DIET" it boils down to:

eat less, exercise more

That's the big secret to weight loss. So if IF helps one do that and break their bad habit, I think it's awesome. People act like we're farm hands out shoveling hay and feeding animals at 4am and thus need to eat huge breakfasts and all these meals a day. It's comical.

In any event - it's a public forum so say what you want. Just sad that people will yell opinions as if stating fact.

FWIW, the scale went up 5 lbs for me when I started strength training regularly. And my waist went down 1.5 inches. So... it's just not a great indicator.

+1

Same here. My pants fit better, but I weighed more. Because muscle is denser than fat.

I skip breakfast. Eat a protein-ful lunch at 12, have a small afternoon snack and a small-ish dinner around 8 pm. I've been swimming, doing Zumba, lifting weights, walking and doing yoga every day. I feel great! But my body is still holding on to these 15 extra pounds. I still look soft. Seriously! What's going on?

When did you start eating that and tracking?
