THAT is what I find ridiculous. Talk about last minute. If they wanted to close (which I do NOT think is necessary), they should have said that to begin with.

Two hours. Presumably they started getting ready for the start with a two-hour delay and found that conditions were worse than they had thought.

We live in Brookeville near the border of Olney, which is close to upper MoCo, and our streets are clear and dry. We live on a cul de sac, so it's not like we live on a major road.

So, where are these dangerous road conditions?

You forgot:

-The roads where I live are fine.
-The school district is too big, how come my child has to stay home from school just because the roads elsewhere in the county are bad?
-(new for this year) They're just did this to stick it to Hogan.

This would explain it, I guess—unexpected ice, plus that bus going off the road last week, probably has them worried.

I predict this thread will reach at least 6 pages complaining how the county is too big and they go to school in the snow in Nizhny-Novgorod so why doesn’t MCPS. And so the world turns. Glad it’s not my responsibility to make these decisions.

Our before and aftercare program through KAH at FLora Singer opened on time and will be open all day (7am - 630pm).

I understand that you need to get to work. I hate missing so much work too but I guess there were some buses that went out and realized it was not good enough to drive in.


Our aftercare is open all day so I don’t care about work. I care about my child actually learning.

Are you guys REALLLLY upset about school being out or because you have to make alternate arrangements so that you can get into work? Serious question to ask yourselves. For my part, not too concerned about a snow day, but I do think employers should be much more flexible.
