+1! Food is delicious all over Italy IME - even “tourist” food puts what you get here to shame. I studied abroad very close to Lake Como (in Lugano, which is worth a trip via train from either Milan or Como if anyone has free time).

And I can’t help but laugh at the PP insisting London is a top food city. Are we speaking of two different Londons?

Ok, I think we discount the poster who is pushing Princi, which is essentially a Potbelly's. Anyone else?

I'll be the fiirst to admit that Princi is a glorified office lunch place but the concept is good, and it is very well executed. In London it is different and more posh somehow - you'd go there for a dinner out with friends.

London has the best food scene, certainly better than anything in Italy or the US. Stand by my claim that Como doesn't have any really good food. I'm a food snob for sure!

NP here. Plenty of good eats in Lake Como. PP sounds like a foodie snob.

Villa Carlotta is good fun, and you can drive to it. Another cool thing is to take the boat out to Belaggio. You can take the funicular to Brunate to get good views over Como. Then there is the Cathedral itself in Como with shopping etc nearby. That is about all the place has. No good restaurants to write home about, sadly.

Did this in October. Long day, but loved it.

The roof of the Duomo is cool, but I'm not sure I would go out of my way for Milan. If you were flying in or out of it, sure, take a day and see some stuff.
