I listened to the LeVar Burton reading of this and at the end he interviewed the author. They both talked about “the reveal” at the end as if it was so obvious and wow how mundane-blowing without saying what was revealed. Left me with the biggest sense of the “the emperor has no clothes”.

Ha! I started this thread 7.5 years ago and the story is still so haunting and yet puzzling. The ages just don't add up. Maybe 5/18/25 has it right, but now I'll have to go reread.
