My apologies. I'm grumpy because I haven't had a travel vacation in years. However it's true I would rather go somewhere else - like the canyons: grand Canyon, Zion, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, etc.

I have heard cool amazing things about Harry Potter at the Universal Studios and i haven't even read the books. Imagine, your kids who are fans of Harry Potter! Pricey-YES. Just limit the things you buy and eat. And it's not just for kids, it's for any age Harry Potter fans. Like all amusement parks, there are alot of walking.

As for beach scene, it's kinda cool in March.

Mexico might actually be cheaper OP. I would go there and I've been to both. Since your DH doesn't like crowds, he would hate FL during spring break. Too many people. The weather in Mexico is much better. We went to PV for Christmas and it was wonderful. We've been to Cancun and have always had fun there. Much more relaxing.

How much relaxation time do you want during your trip? We went to Tulum two spring breaks ago (kids were 8 and 10). I find staying at all inclusive resorts (shout out to Dreams!) to be very relaxing. I don't have to cook at all. After meals, we can just leave the table without having to wait for the check. Kids can get snacks anytime they want. We can just lounge around the pool/beach and the kids can go off to a kids club/teen lounge. Resort provides entertainment. Plus, there is so much to do as excursions (also look into Xel Ha and XCaret). My vote is for Mexico. Do Florida some other time.

We went to Universal last Spring Break and stayed at Portofino Bay. We never waited in long lines and crowds were fine. We did go to Harry Potter right when it openers each day.

Definitely Mexico! We go every Spring Break with friends. Such an easy destination with wonderful food and people. Weather usually perfect too.

If you are going for the beach, Mexico. Jacksonville/St. Augustine beaches are really nice, but March is very iffy. More often than not, it is not great beach weather at that time.

Thanks! Definitely interested in a vacation that doesn't involve shooting or beheading. However we have friends who are active duty military and have to get an okay to travel to another country, and they were assured that Quintana Roo, the province we'd be visiting, is very safe and there were zero security concerns with them spending a week there with their kids.

Also just FYI people get robbed and shot in Florida!

We LOVED Portofino Bay hotel-it was like fake Italy (in a good way). That said, the crowds at Universal that week would be daunting even with the Universal on-site benefits.

I love both because they are warm. Mexico is great if you can deal with immigration and passport control lines and if you have passports (they are expensive) Its a great age for your children to visit mexico and hear a different language and see how other people live. The ruins are also interesting and so are the senotes (underground caves)
