Women would be paid the same in the US also if women weren't the normal caregivers and the only ones to take 12 weeks off. Men are more equal in marriages in Iceland and do take paternity leave there.

I bet if you read the nitty gritty parts of the law you’ll find an exception for pay structures that reward employees based on tenure or advanced degrees. So in the example above, all male and female teachers with 20 years of experience are paid the same, and are paid more than all male and female teachers with 2 years of experience.


It's a shame there has to be a law to make things fair for women. It's better for society

Iceland is way ahead of the rest of the world in being self sufficient with renewable energy. They don't need the rest of the world!
