To me, hershey's tastes like wax. It's like wine, expensive doesn't necessarily mean better, but better is better! The smaller batch, better sourced and better made chocolates do tend to be pricier. Godiva? Too pricy but not better. If you like hershey's then enjoy your bargain!

Wockenfuss Candies is my favorite chocolate place locally.

Their chocolate covered gummi bears are so good.

OP, do you want truffles in particular, or chocolate bars, etc.?

Neuhaus is fabulous for truffles, but for grocery store brands, there are several that I really love for my chocolate fix. Right now I am in love with Sirius chocolate, an Icelandic (!) brand available at Whole Foods. I also like Michel Cluizel.

Someone gave me some Vosges sea salt caramels for Christmas that were quite tasty, as well as a bar of their dark chocolate bacon bar. I'd definitely eat their truffles for sure if someone put them in front of me.

+1,000 on Neuhaus. I lived in Belgium and it was the most affordable "nice" chocolate there. So tasty.

Godiva hasn't been good since it was bought out.

I didn't know there was a Leonidas store locally. Good thing. Had them straight from Belgium years ago, and they were luscious.
