Thank you! I'm up to week 3. Almost 3 pounds down and clothes fitting much, much better. I can slip on jeans straight out of the dryer--ha!

However, I have been tracking every day since I signed up, and have improved my eating. I have concrete plans for more exercise after Christmas (rearranged my work schedule) so looking forward to that making a bigger difference.

I think of this as basically a WW diet with a better motivational tool. The pop up notifications and desire to check off the day's tasks are the big selling points. I don't love the coach but she does create accountability.

12/7 here. I agree with you on all points. I haven't even introduced myself to my group because, frankly, years of WW meetings taught me that group support doesn't do much for me. I have just enough time to fit in the notifications, tracking, and exercise every day and a quick reply once a week to my coach (who is fine but not a dealbreaker either way).

My own weight loss continues slow but steady. I was able to navigate my office party Sat. night, passing up all but the food I really wanted and had budgeted for. I went a little over but tracked it nonetheless--and the scale showed no change. I usually look at the holiday party as a chance to go nuts, so this was a huge win.

First two weeks are free, then $129 per 4 months. For the free trial you have the app and coach, but you aren't placed in a group until the third week.

The group is kind of like a closed Facebook group, with a facilitator who posts questions and responds to your answers. The app also encourages you to post specific things to the group, and everybody in the group is on the same day of the program so everybody is getting the same prompt. For example, today the app asked me to post to the group a way I'm going to drink more water today, and separately the group facilitator started a thread on habits.

I signed up for the free trial and the coach finally contacted me on day 6 of my trial, which frustrated me. Then he gave me pretty much no support and wanted me to talk to him again on day 13. I did it a year or so ago and felt like their app had glitches and wasn’t as easy to use as weight watchers app tracker. It didn’t seem worth it to me to pay.

I'm the Noom PP--maybe talking to myself at this point, but that's OK.

At the one week point exactly, the scale still showed a little less than a pound. But one day later, finally! Down two pounds in eight days. For someone my age and frame, with little to lose, this is incredible progress. My jeans are fitting really well, too.

I don't know why this program has motivated me so well, but it has, and I'm seeing the results.

I'm at one week with Noom, and not only do I like it, but I've stuck to it 100%. They really do take all that's good about Weight Watchers (unless you prefer in-person meetings) and leave out the nonsense like chickpeas having zero points.

There's almost a videogame aspect to the app that drives you to come back each day. Most of the articles tell me what I already know, but they've been good reinforcement each morning. I've added 1,000 steps to my average based on the gentle push from the app. I want the number badly enough that I make it happen, even if it means walking hallways at work or actually cranking up my dusty treadmill in the basement.

The food log is the easiest interface I've encountered (I've tried them all--FitBit, MyFitnessPal, Sparkpeople, WW, knockoffs from the app store, etc.). I think this is the greatest value for me. No crashing, no tedious searches, and SO many items in their database. I can add a meal in a fraction of the usual time WW used to take.

My coach is fine if somewhat canned, as mentioned by a PP. I prefer data over support, so this works for me. I haven't encountered all the group support options, which I believe kick in in week 3.

And my weight loss so far has been...about half a pound. My weight went down, then plateaued for days on end, and then went up a bit this morning. I'm not concerned. I was on keto for a couple months before this--excluding the Thanksgiving binge to end all binges--so I'm being patient. My stomach looks flatter and my clothes are already fitting better.

In sum, I recommend Noom. For reference, I'm a small-boned female in my early 50s who wants to lose about 5 pounds--one of the toughest demographics for weight loss.

I've been dieting for 40 years, so I didn't think there was much they could tell me, but I'll admit the "getting to your why" was actually pretty helpful. WW did the same thing, but not so individually, and they didn't make you dig as deep for the reason.

After logging my first meal, I really, really like that if you choose, say, a banana, it will give you the calories counts for a half, a whole, one and a half, and two. Seeing those numbers in front of my face made me choose smaller portions for two items. Again, WW did something similar in the tracker, but it wasn't presented as powerfully--I recall you got half or whole and that was all.

I am not the Noom demographic, so we'll see. I'll report back here after I give it a week or so.

Do they help you decide how much to eat? I'm using fitbit and the recommendation is under 1000 calories a day for me.

They set a calorie count, yes. Mine is 1200, which is what Fitbit set for me as well, though Fitbit adjusts it due to exercise or lack thereof. Noom's target doesn't adjust at all.

You can eat anything you want so long as it falls within your range. They do label foods green, yellow, and red and recommend you focus on green in order to stay full, given the limited calories. Unlike WW, there are no free foods.

I tried it but discontinued. I didn't find anything that was individualized to me. The coach seemed to mean well, but came across as way too enthusiastic for my liking. Answers seemed kind of canned as well. It may be good for someone who needs to learn about nutrition and healthy habits to begin with---not necessarily someone who has the knowledge but needs to put it into practice. It wasn't motivating at all for me.

Good for you, that's great! I am down 5 lbs in 3 weeks, hoping to copy your success.
