And I'll add this wasn't during turbulence or anything. The fasten seat belt light was off and there was no line. I think she just thought it would be easier for me.

??? In the bathroom, of course. There are pull-down changing tables. I would never change a baby of any age in the seat. It's unhygienic and makes people uncomfortable.

There are changing tables in the airplane bathrooms. Never, never in the seat. Never.

In a pinch I have changed a pee diaper while DS was standing, but like 98% of the time we just go to the bathroom. We usually take flights <4 hrs so he rarely poops on the flight. Pee for some reason his diapers will overflow so I always have to wind up changing him mid flight. I guess because he drinks more fluids as the flight takes off for his ears?

Aside from the cold, why would there be any concern about that? We used to change DC in the back of our Outback all the time. Now there's even a travel potty back there for emergencies.

Yes, it's fine, although it might be a bit cold for baby's bare bum.

OMG. Terrible. I'm sorry for your friend. We fly A LOT. I've always changed my kid in the airplane bathroom. He thinks it's fun. After the kid is older and you can do standing diaper changes, he can stand on the closed toilet seat. Until then, yes, there are changing tables. Bring your own disposable pad if you're a germaphobe. We just use purell wipes generously until we deplane and then take showers/baths as the first available opportunity...

This. I’ve probably flown 50 times or more with a child in diapers (I have 3 kids and we travel a ton). Always always always change them in the bathroom. On a few rare occasions when the bathroom was tiny and not maneuverable I asked flight attendants and they let me change the baby (on top of changing pad) on the floor in the galley under their jump seats. Diapers MJST be disposed of in the lavatory. That’s not even an option. I think once in 8 years I changed a small baby’s diaper at our seat (pee only) because the fasten seatbelt sign never went off and she was very wet. It was a super fast change and I did it across my lap and dh’s.

I can’t believe people actually do the above regularly. How thoughtless.

There should be a changing table on the plane. Not every single lavatory on the plane will have one, so ask the flight attendant.

I just did this with a 15 month old 5 days ago. 7 hr flight. You must change pee diapers - she wet thru an overnight diaper in my lap. Use the bathroom table. Yes it’s small but doable. Some planes only some of the bathrooms have fold down tables so scout it out when you have to pee before the baby needs changing. I had a gallon ziplock bag with all changing essentials and a change of clothes ready to roll in a backpack under my seat. It helped.
