You must be the same troll who tries to convince people College Park isn’t a dump because of a few scientists and entrepreneurs.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_University_of_Georgia_people

You can tell because of the ridiculous punctuation placement . Why didn’t Marylan d teach such basic grammar .

A few?

U.MD alumni invented Google, Oculus Rift, the Muppets, the Universal Price Code, the Hybrid Engine, the Octane system , Linear programming , oral contraceptives , Linear Programming, Underarmour , FLAVORX, the Jumbotron , pulse Dopplar radar, broke Watergate, launched Sirius Satellite, invented the embedded insulin pump, the early warning epilepsy implant, the embedded defribulator.

It's more of a lacrosse school than a football school.

Sigh. Someone taking credit for the accomplishments a few others in the past. Glory days...

U.MD is a dump with bland buildings located in a run-down suburb, and it’s not the subject of this thread.

Go away.

Filled with geniuses and lacrosse championships.

OP here. Not helpful so can you please resist the urge to continue to post on this thread. Thank you.

Football First ... College second. Like Penn State, if the choice came between abolishing the school or the football program then the school would be abolished.

Other than that , it looks like fun!

+1. It's a football school. Their campus recruiting is lacking and students rarely have summer internships in large cities. It's an SEC school. It's gotten harder to get into in recent years but the academics haven't improved.

Do you have personal experience? Because our family hasn’t found this to be the case at all. Daughter will graduate in May from the Terry School of Business and has offers from multiple Fortune 500 companies already. Her fellow classmates the same.

Most offers are probably for average corporations in Atlanta. UGA simply isn't a school where outstanding students or go getters go. Most alumni are living in Atlanta suburbs. Their campus recruiting was weak when I was in school and I'm sure it still is.

Friend's daughter, from this area, went to UGA on a similar scholarship program; did spectacularly and always talks up UGA. Colleague went there for undergrad and then went to a top-5 law school. UGA seems to aggressively recruit top candidates. Very favorable overall impression.

OP here. I wonder about this. The stats on the honors program are quite high (average SAT I believe is 1490) so that's good but I don't know if the rest of the institution is geared toward that caliber of student vs. a smaller, likely private, college with a non stratified student body. So I am trying to figure out the balance. I hope that doesn't come across as arrogant - its' really about finding the right place. I wondered if UGA might be the hybrid I mentioned. And I do want my daughter to have fun and not only study. I do wonder long term about the perceived value of the degree and more importantly the value of the alumni network.
