I think the claim was in Katie Nichol's book and quoted one of her Marlborough College counselors about her original top choice and when she switched plans.

I also hope that Kate and Meghan don't parallel Diana and Fergie. Diana and Fergie had been friends before the marriage and that was also part of what drew them together during their troubled marriages and ended up being part of what made Diana turn on Fergie.

Kate and Meghan are different. They don't seem to have the same expectations that the royal family is their only source of strength. Kate has a strong family base and if I recall, one author said that the Middletons made it clear that them being an active part of Kate, William and grandchildren's lives was an important part of encouraging their match. Meghan has a strong relationship with her mother and many close friends with their own bases. I also don't think that they have the same expectations of what they will give/get out of their royal lives. Kate wants a traditional family, to support William's inevitable rising stature in the monarchy and to preserve the "Firm". Meghan wants to advance her causes, work in her areas of passion and have her own family circle with Harry.

This is clearly drivel. I'm not trying to be a Meghan super-fan because I think both women are excellent matches for their respective mates will serve different functions within the monarchy.

But there isn't anything in their backgrounds that is remarkably different: both of them come from middle class families. Kate's parents were flight attendants before they started their party planning business, so aren't clearly more educated or further up the food chain than Meghan, whose father was lighting director/director of photography in Hollywood - probably a skilled position. Her mother is a counselor. I guess Kate is English and white, so there is that but the royal family isn't particular about nationality, see i.e., Prince Phillip plus all their German blood.

Plus, this idea that somehow Kate has had an easier time is strange - she changed her enrollment from Edinburgh to St. Andrews in the sheer hope of catching William's eye. She waited for 10 years waiting for him without developing her own career or foothold. She hustled for him. So did Meghan but before that she graduated from Northwestern, nothing to sneeze at, became a series regular on a long-running cable t.v. show and then got involved in advocacy and charitable work well before she met Harry.

They both have hustle. I agree Kate has grace. Meghan has charisma.

My comment had nothing to do with their backgrounds, ethnicity, or demeanor. My comment was purely factual - Kate is the wife to the man 2nd in line to the throne and mother to the children 3rd and 4th in line. She maintains a higher status within the Royal Family structure, along with her children, than Prince Harry and soon-to-be Duchess Meghan.

In fact, Meghan will be required to "present" herself to George and Charlotte at her wedding. Why? Because they are her seniors.


Higher status within royal family structure doesn't automatically translate into higher status period. Sure if you are on margins your status is low but this is a different sitaution. Meghan's husband is hotter than Kate's and she is just overall more attractive and more successful. After all she was a celeb way before she met Harry (unlike Kate).


She's 36! Kate met William in college. Can't really compare that.

For Meghan’s sake, I hope not. Diana used Fergie to her own ends as soon as the latter was turned in by the press. Tina Brown’s (mostly sympathetic) book on Diana discussed this at length.

Are you Kate’s publicist or Pippa Middleton?

Kate is a public figure and as such the public speculate about her.

Anyone who knows anything about them knows she and William are hardly soulematess. She was the last woman standing.

Kate changing schools makes sense - it's not a huge school so I could see, if you have the means, are in the right age group, etc., you have a reasonable chance of dating the prince choosing his college.

Meghan's "ploy" seems less plausible. It seems unlikely that she set out to marry prince harry from her days sight seeing at the palace as a teen. She would have to have been like, "first I'll become a successful actress, and land a spot on a TV show for several seasons! Then, I will have my agent suggest a meeting with prince harry!"

I mean, the chance of becoming a successful actress on a long-running TV show is like what....one in several million? Come on. So stupid. She may have wanted to meet and date and marry the prince but acting like it's a scheme is so dumb.

Remember Princess Diana and Princess Fergie when they were good friends and get into trouble together in the early days. Until the queen put a stop to it. I still Renee the photo of them goosing a guy in front of them with the point of a golf umbrella.

I think it’s a lonely life in the inner circle so hopefully they will be friends.
