I’m surprised that B&O Railroad museum in Baltimore was not mentioned yet. As far as trains go this is THE museum to visit.

There is no children's museum at national harbor , it closed over a year ago.

There's a model train museum in Frederick near old town. If they like looking at trains, this is fun and it's cheap too. I think they dress it up for the holiday season too.

National Geographic is neat for older kids.

Dinosaur Land is super random and kitchy... but my little kids thought it was a riot.

There's a childrens museum in National Harbor that's OK. Along the lines of Port Discovery in Baltimore, but not as big.
College Park Aviation Museum is super fun.
Goddard Space Flight Center also has a museum - it's small, definitely not a whole day event, but you could combine the College Park museum and Goddard.


We went here over the summer and I was surprised by how interesting it was. Not crowded at all either. And you can get lunch at Union Station afterwards.
