I had a woman whose DC had gotten into one of the Sacred Five bombard me with information I had not asked for.

Yes, all the time and so does DD herself. She went to Princeton and people wanted to know how she got in because both my husband and I were lower class growing up. People ask us about all of her stats and was she FA (no she wasn't). They ask why she got in and not...in her class. Want to know how she prepped for the SAT, what activities she did, did someone help her with her essays (no)...did we write her resume (no), etc. DD happens to work in finance and she has all of the people in the C-Suite asking her to coach their kids.

Sorry, should've clarified. The parents that messaged me were ones that we knew through school/sports/other activities and have had a history of only ever talking to us when they needed something or otherwise to make snide remarks about my kids vs. theirs. I would probably gladly share such information with friends that didn't have such a pointed track record of such.

My sister went to an HYP ivy and has been asked by older colleagues if she will coach their kids for interviews etc. as a favor. She's done it.

Generally, no. I tended to try to redirect their curiousity to general advice regarding test prep, good AP classes she enjoyed, a brief overview of her extracurriculars, colleges we really liked while touring, etc. probably more useful to them in the long run!

I am a parent who has asked parents with older kids questions like, did you use a private consultant, what other schools did you look at, what was stress level like in your house, what did he like about his choice, etc. I would never ask about test scores or anything to do with what was submitted with the application. That is crossing the line.
