I have over $30,000 in student loans and I live with 4 roommates. Even if I were making 6 figures, I'd get killed in taxes.
My income bracket is like the top 30 percent for a single male, which is incredibly sad. I know lots of folks my age struggling to find good employment. Employers are taking advantage of the poor economy by creating "internships" that pay peanuts and "part-time gigs" so as to avoid paying for healthcare.
I mean, most of the jobs created now are Uber jobs and Amazon warehouse jobs. Not exactly the type of jobs needed to make a living. And if you "get educated" and "learn skills", you will still get penalized during TAX SEASON!
So I get why folks voted Trump. The economy sucks. Hillary didn't offer any solutions to fix the economy. Trump made his campaign specifically about JOBS! JOBS! JOBS! I completely understand why people fell for this mad man. Yes, he's a mad man and a moron but the economy has improved and stock market is up... so I am rethinking my opinion about him.

This thread smells like reheated propaganda.

Wow you make a ton more money than my brother who cobbles together a living from several part-time jobs. He hates Trump and all his crooked billionaire cabinet members who are out to plunder America to enrich themselves more.
My sister and BIL didn’t vote for Hillary because they saw how she filled her coffers and got rich off the backs of Americans - and left our Kent to die.
Guess they must REALLY hate Trump and his cabinet then, huh?

Can you imagine a single mother working 10 hours a week at two part-time jobs, working her a$$ off to feed her 2 kids, and watching Hillary during the debate say Trump said mean things! and Trump is a racist!
And at the same time she hears Trump say he'll create more GOOD-PAYING jobs.
I'm pretty sure this single mother's listening will find Trump more appealing because she feels he's talking directly to her and her needs.
Did you mean 10 hours a DAY?
And unemployment is down under Trump, the lowest in 17 years. I believe I heard it's below 4%, which is considered "full employment." That's showing up in food stamp usage, too, which is down after a big uptick under Obama. Business is booming.
The jobs created under Obama were largely part-time, too, and that was in response to Obamacare regulations. He unwittingly created a disincentive to bringing on full-time staff. So you ended up with more people like your single mother example, struggling with two PT jobs, and where neither pay benefits.

Anonymous wrote:If you're "struggling" on a net income of $5000/month maybe you need to look at your spending habits. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to take a good chunk out of your student loan debt every month. Look at website like Dave Ramsey's or Bogleheads on personal finance and take control of your money. You could even post on the Money board on this website and get some advice.
Your post makes you sound like a victim, when, even as you admit, you're doing better than most. Take advantage of that. If you live a little more frugally for a while OP you'd put yourself in a much better position.
