I would be worried about birth defects and SNs with 47 yo sperm. Risk goes way up.

I'm 41 with a 4 year old and 1 year old and don't feel too old. Most of the other parents in our daycare and preschool are similarly aged, so we also don't feel out of place.

We live inside the beltway, which makes a difference in regards to our peer group. My BFF lives in Prince William County and she feels very out of place being 40 with two young children and a full time job -- most of her neighbors are in their early 30s and SAHMs.

Not at all! I had my first at 42 and second at 46! Might have had another if I wasn’t so damn old already!

I had my second DC at 40. I was going to give up TTC at 39, thinking ugh, having a baby at 40?! I'm out of my mind. DH talked me into trying one more time and voila. I now have a delightful 10 yo DD.

My sister had her first at 42. Luckily we both had healthy babies after easy pregnancies.

It’s fine OP. 40 is still young enough where you don’t have to worry about energy levels and such. It’s also not uncommon to hear of women your age with babies.

Plenty of grandparents raise and/or nanny small children, much older than that. You will be fine.

Hate to break it to you, but younger moms have babies with problems as well. And many over 40 have perfectly healthy children.

Um, there’s a absolutely no assurance that your child will have children, or that you’ll be alive to see them anyway. Don’t base this on what-ifs.
