There are objective criteria that teachers are supposed to use in making a determination on what reading level is appropriate. I'm surprised by the difference in the assessments. There's a pretty if difference between a resting level K and a level P.
OP here,
I agree.Dd teacher is a first year teacher and dh wants me to ask on Thursday who performed the benchmark testing on dd.
BTDT in ACPS, ask for the reading specialist to retest your child. It's quite possible that your child's teacher does not how to properly score and administer the test.
OP here,
Thank you.Excellent advice.
This is the moment I become like my mother. She was and always will be our warrior and peacemaker of the PTA.mom was always at school and I thought she worked there.
They have PTAs in East Africa?
I know! Can you imagine other countries besides America have schools and parents that care about their kids? Shocking.
PTA <> schools and parents that care about their kids. far from it. just watch Bad Moms.

OP here,
My dh and I are originally from East Africa. We both value Equal education opportunity for all American kids and Dd was born here.I am looking forward to Thursday conference with dd teacher and hopefully I will learn something to report back.My only concern is how to help dd master her reading gap if that's the case.
