But I'm the OP that started the thread about stopping for a while (I was at 1-2/weeknight, 3-4/every night on weekends).
I can tell I feel better in the mornings when I don't drink. So I'm taking a break.
How do you feel every morning? And can you not have a drink?
I am grumpy and disoriented in the morning.
Based on this, I think you have a problem. You're not an alcoholic, but you have a problem with alcohol. At this point, it's an easy fix, but if you keep on this path it will get steadily harder to fix.
Give yourself a break of a week from alcohol. Make sure that you can stop when you want to and not without needing help. Your body needs to detox because it's getting used to the alcohol and that can lead to problems and dependency if you don't break the habit. Also you need to get back to the point where your body does not show reactions like grumpiness and disorientation from drinking.
So, take a week off, learn to recognize how you feel without the habit and then ease back into it and watch for the same symptoms and give yourself another break. This way you keep your body from becoming accustomed and then dependent on the alcohol. That's how you keep it to being a vice and from becoming an addiction.
