And yes, reduce your food intake. You might try for 1500 to start though. You want to be able to sustain this.
I say weight lift, but body weight exercises (lunges, squats, pull ups, push ups, planks, jumping jacks, the like) are actually probably better for you. 7-minute workout is a great one. Do it twice in a row, two times a week. You'll feel it.
