We f*ck ourselves so hard. Australia is nice too. I mean no of it matters anymore. We are no longer a model for the rest of the world under trump.

This discussion is way off the rails. The original story was about jailing people for expression. That is authoritarian and has nothing to do with the economics of the country.
But, sadly, most are incapable of making these distinctions.
I benfit greatly and I’m not near the top. We have an excellent standard of living here. The big thing is upward mobility here. You want to work hard you’ll succeed
Have you seen the numbers on upward mobility lately?
Yeah, under Obama it wicked. Now we’ll see growth
Oh, indeed. Indeed. The new tax plan ensures student loan debt will follow students forever, millennials can't buy homes because of crushing debt, we are dismantling public education, I mean sh*t, so much winning.

We wouldn't have the mess we have now. Or a disgustingly unfair distribution of wealth. Or poverty. Or 59,000,000 people without medical insurance or able to get medical care. Or people destroying the planet in the pursuit of unnecessary excesses. And we could get rid of this absurd political and electoral circus we engage in that is just a giant money-hole. Replace it with a consistent, stable one party system where leadership is determined on the basis of who is most qualified rather than who raises the most money or buys the most votes. We'd all be better off if we had a socialist system.
Only people who benefit in a socialist system are the top. The idiots that advocate for it are usually rich whites people who have no clue and are weak and simple minded. The other are groups of people who love Che despite the fact he was a racist homophobe

Everyone was a homophobe in the 1950s and 1960's. Homosexuality was listed as a mental illness in the Physicians Diagnostic Manual until 1977.
