I look up, and see that those black dust powder thing are coming from the attic crack. We live in 1989 year townhouse, and there is a crack between the (above is attic) ceiling drywall & the wall, and I recall that my real estate agent says it is foundation settling crack, just cosmetic, no big deal. Those black dust powder looks like black pepper powder/coal dust things, and they are fine in textures. Are they drywall termite poop? I am really worried. I am planning that room to be a nursery.

Anyways, I ask for a free termite inspection scheduled, and they say they would only look around the house & the basement, and they are not going up the attic. Hopefully, I can ask them to take a look at my bedroom crack where those black dusts falling from, and tell me if it is not termite, what are those possible pests are. Is it true that those inspector does not go up attic to look for termite or pests because it is a free inspection and it is too much work?
