Interesting. I would have put UVM on the runners-up list. It places way lower in most rankings than the rest of the public ivies on that list.

UVM is stronger in environmental science and nursing/PT.

Not much diversity in terms of political thought as it is run by liberals who tend to have a hard time dealing with oppositional thoughts.

Burlington is a great little city but homeless kids tend to run wild in the Church Street area. Burlington is COLD in winter and surprisingly doesn't get much snow.

The campus has seen a lot of upgrades in the last 10 or so years.
It could be a good match if your child likes the ski or hike, learn outdoor skills....

lass kids who may have never been on an airplane from VT.

My DD toured this past year and liked it a lot. Burlington is a great small city--plenty to do downtown and the lake and mountains so close. To me, it seemed like a place where the students worked plenty during the week and spend weekends either skiing, hiking or partying...i.e., not a joke but not super-rigorous, either.

Vermont Law, located in South royalton, VT, is not part of UVM. And yes, it has a great environmental law program.

The kids at UVM are good solid students, but not the best. At least when I taught there, there were a number of kids from the bottom of their prep school class. There was a lot of pot.

On the other hand, I had some very sharp students, lots of students with serious outdoor skills who were very interesting. I enjoyed my colleagues. UVM is a research university but they take their teaching responsibilities seriously and do a good job.
